The six shared spawn areas are the giant tree, the cave behind the waterfall, the cliffs outside the cave mouth, the cliff between the forest and the desert, the pyramid interior and the maze beside it. Where they differ, and the one number that argues with itself
There are exactly two published differences between these eggs. One is the Clover value on the egg itself, and the other is a claim about which of the two spawns less often. They contradict each other.

One written source states that when an Ethereal egg is announced the odds favour the Blackhole, which would make the Cherub the rarer spawn. The only clover figure published for a Cherub is 6.09K against 100B for the Blackhole, and on a scale where higher means better that made the Cherub look far more common, which is why this was recorded as unresolved.
The scale these two numbers sit on is the Eggs Index Clover ladder, which runs from 1 to 1T across twenty-four rows. The in-game Eggs Index contains 24 rows. Each row carries a Clover cost. Only the first 11 rows also display an In Map count, and from a Clover cost of 30K upward no In Map figure is shown at all. The Blackhole figure of 100B lands on row twenty-three of that ladder, while the Cherub figure of 6.09K falls between rows ten and eleven, so on this ladder the two eggs are not neighbours at all. That is the arithmetic behind the contradiction.

Why the rarity question does not change your plan
This is the practical conclusion and it is the reason the disagreement is not worth losing sleep over. Whichever egg is technically rarer, the way you find it is identical: one announcement, six areas, one race, and a carry window that starts the moment you touch the egg.
The carry, not the search. Two sources describe the timer as starting when the egg is picked up and stopping only once it is placed in a nest on your own plot, which makes 21 seconds the window between collecting the egg and getting it home rather than a limit on how long you have to find it. That turns the whole question into a positioning problem, and a positioning problem does not care which of two eggs spawned. It cares whether you are close enough to reach the area and be home inside the window.
The one place the distinction does matter is what you will get. The Cherub is reported to hatch a winged pet that no source will name, while the Blackhole is the one players search for most. So if you have a preference, it is a preference about the outcome, not about the hunt, because the hunt is the same hunt.

The two spellings are used at almost equal volume in search: the spaced form at 30 and the closed form at 26 in the project's Google Trends export. Both are treated as the same egg on this page, and both appear in the headings so either search finds it.
The same applies to the Cherub, which is occasionally written with a capitalised second word or hyphenated. Both spellings find the same egg and this site treats them as one entity rather than splitting the topic across two pages.

- Whether the Cherub Clover figure belongs to the egg or to the pet it hatches.
