Ride A Pet beginner guide
The loop as the developer describes it, and the order to do things in so the first hour is not spent on the wrong half of the map.
The loop, in the developer’s own words
S1 official“Find Eggs Around The Map. Hatch Rarer & Faster Pets to Find Rarer Eggs. Mutate your Pets to go even faster.”
Quoted from the store page description on the Roblox listing. This is the only explanation of the game the developer has published, which is why it is the spine of this page.
The loop has a direction people miss
Read that sentence again and notice the arrow it draws. Faster pets are not the goal, they are the tool for finding rarer eggs. Mutations are not the goal either, they are what makes the tool better. The actual goal is the Index, and every upgrade in between is a means of reaching it.
That matters because it settles the first decision most new players get wrong. It is tempting to treat a rare pet as the prize, but a rare pet that cannot reach the far biomes is not useful yet. Speed comes first because speed is what converts into access.
Your first session, in order
- 1Work the nearest tier until your nest is producingStay close to the starting area and clear whatever is there. Common eggs have 30 live spawn points at once, so you are never waiting long. The point of this phase is not the eggs, it is getting your first income running.
- 2Buy the radar before you buy anything elseA radar changes egg hunting from searching into detecting, which is a different activity entirely. The cheapest one costs 50 cash, and it pays for itself faster than any other early purchase because it improves the loop you are already running.
- 3Feed your main pet rather than collecting moreA leveled pet beats a bench of unleveled ones, and food is the cheap lever. Concentrate progress on the single pet you are actually riding instead of spreading it across everything you hatch.
- 4Keep one nest permanently emptyThis is the habit that separates players who progress smoothly from players who are always stuck. A route that ends with nowhere to put the egg returns nothing, no matter how good the egg was.
- 5Start extending outward once your pet is fastReach is the gate on every biome. Before your mount is quick enough, distant nests are decoration. Once it is, the outer tiers stop being a gamble and become the main event.
What the tiers mean before you can use them
The spawn ladder is the map’s way of rationing content by speed. Early on, only the top rows of that table are realistic, and that is by design rather than a fault in your play. This is the table to keep in mind while choosing where to spend a session.
| Tier | Alive at once | Early-game treatment |
|---|---|---|
| Common | 30 | Where your eggs per hour comes from. Live here at first. |
| Uncommon | 10 | Where your eggs per hour comes from. Live here at first. |
| Mid | 5 | Worth a detour once your mount can make the return trip. |
| Rare | 3 | Worth a detour once your mount can make the return trip. |
| Contested | 2 | Announced for a reason. Only attempt it when you can win the race. |
| Epic | 1 | Announced for a reason. Only attempt it when you can win the race. |
| No count shown | not shown | Announced for a reason. Only attempt it when you can win the race. |
The biomes those tiers sit in are really difficulty gates. There are 8 nest families, and the reach column on each is a polite statement about which mount you need before the place is available to you.
The three early mistakes
Chasing rarity instead of speed
Rarity says how hard a pet is to get. Speed says whether you can reach the part of the map that matters. Early on, a modest pet with decent speed is worth more than a rare one you cannot ride anywhere useful. The fastest base speed on the roster is 1B, and the gap between that and the starting pets is the real progression curve.
Ignoring the Index
The Index pays out cash at milestones, and it also reveals what you have not found yet as locked silhouettes. That makes it a to-do list as well as a reward track, and it is the only place in the game that tells you what is still ahead.
Buying speed before understanding reach
Speed is the master stat, but it only pays off if you use it. A fast mount pointed at the nearest tier is barely better than a slow one pointed at the same place. The gain comes from using the speed to travel outward.
Where mutations fit in
Mutations are the third clause of the loop and they arrive after speed rather than before it. They multiply a base value, so applying one early to a weak pet wastes it. The sensible point to start caring about mutations is once you own a pet whose base speed is high enough that doubling it changes what you can reach. The hatch screen border colour is the only reliable rarity signal. Nest colour is a hint only.
Mutation multipliers are graded S4 Single source, so treat the ordering as solid and the exact figures as provisional.
What is missing from this guide
No coordinates, no exact route and no upgrade cost table. The first two are impossible for anyone outside the studio, since the developer has never published a coordinate list and the map has already been changed once. The third is a genuine gap in what has been documented, and the page says so rather than filling it with invented numbers.
What the guide does give you is the order of operations and the reasoning behind it, which does not depend on any of the missing data. The two cash items mentioned above are both cheap enough that buying them is not a real risk, and the habit of keeping a nest free is free.
- Grass · 10 cash
- Advanced Radar · 50 cash
Common questions
- What do I actually do in Ride A Pet?
- The developer states the loop themselves on the store page: find eggs around the map, hatch rarer and faster pets to find rarer eggs, then mutate your pets to go even faster. Everything else in the game is a support system for that sentence.
- What should I buy first?
- Two cheap cash items cover most early progress: an Advanced Radar for 50 cash, which turns egg hunting from searching into detecting, and Grass for 10 cash at the food stall, which levels your main pet directly. Both are cheap enough that you do not need to save for them.
- Should I chase the rare eggs straight away?
- No. The rarest tiers have only one or two spawn points alive at a time and they sit far from the starting area. A slow mount cannot reach them, so the early game is about volume from the common tiers, which is where the actual eggs per hour comes from.
- What is the biggest early mistake?
- Filling every nest. Hatching happens in a nest, so a route that ends with no free nest space produces nothing at all. Players who keep one nest permanently empty progress noticeably faster than players who keep three full.
The same progression, run start to finish
This guide describes a sequence: what to do first, what to bank for, and when a rebirth stops being worse than waiting. Reading a sequence is slower than watching one, so here is the same arc demonstrated. Treat the numbers said out loud as the creator's reading rather than a published table, because no source for them is given.

What the captions add
Covers the noob-to-progression arc in order, including money and rebirths, which matches the sequence the beginner guide on this site follows.
It is the only video found that covers progression as a sequence rather than as a list of tips, which is the same job the beginner guide does.
